Context
AIxDesign (AIxD) is a global community of designers, creative technologists, and activists using AI in pursuit of creativity, justice and joy. They had a playful and bold identity defined by Design Systems International, and needed help turning that identity into something easy to execute, and even easier to play with.
Project
AIxD is a vibrant community full of members eager to help, however many have limited design experience. This had led to an online presence that didn’t match the thoughtfulness and knowledge exchanged in the community. The challenge was to create ways of working that controlled the things that users were struggling with, whilst allowing them to be creative within the guardrails of the identity. As Design System Lead I have planned and built the core library and have communicated this to a global team with Wikis’ and video tutorials. I have also worked closely with the founder Nadia Piet (Founder and Head of Creative Technology at DEPT) to find new ways of playing with the identity in the future, aided by AI.
